AI-powered video creation startup Clueso has raised $10 million in a Series A funding round led by Dharana Capital to expand its enterprise business and further develop its AI-powered video production platform.
The round also saw participation from new investors Founders Future and Neotribe Ventures, alongside existing backers Y Combinator and f7 Ventures.
According to Clueso, the latest investment takes its total funding to $12 million, with more than 80% of the Series A capital coming from existing investors.
The startup plans to use the funding to expand its enterprise go-to-market operations, further develop its AI agents, improve video editing capabilities and strengthen integrations with business systems.
What does Clueso do?
Founded in 2023 by IIT Madras alumni Akash Anand, Prajwal Prakash and Neel Balar, Clueso provides an AI-powered platform that helps businesses create, edit and update videos for product marketing, customer education, employee training, onboarding and sales enablement.
The startup’s origins can be traced to Desklamp, a previous venture built by the founders that allowed students and academic researchers to create and share notes on PDF documents.
While working on Desklamp, the founders encountered difficulties producing product demonstration videos. The process involved preparing scripts, recording footage, arranging voiceovers and editing videos, sometimes taking up to two weeks to complete.
The experience led them to develop Clueso, initially focusing on simplifying the creation of product tutorials and instructional videos.
The platform has since expanded to support video production across multiple business functions.
Businesses can use Clueso to create videos from screen recordings, product workflows, documents and presentations. The platform combines AI-powered production tools with a browser-based editor, allowing users to review and modify the generated content.
Clueso also supports the creation of written documentation, including instructional guides, alongside videos.
How Clueso uses AI agents to create and update videos
Clueso is developing AI agents designed to automate different stages of video production, particularly for businesses that regularly create product demonstrations, tutorials and training materials.
According to the startup, its computer agents can navigate software applications, perform workflows and capture the screen recordings required for videos.
The platform can then generate scripts, AI voiceovers, motion graphics and captions, and assemble the recorded material into edited videos.
Users can make further changes through Clueso’s browser-based video editor, including adjustments to visuals, pacing and other production elements.
The startup also offers reusable video production standards that allow businesses to define their preferred voice, visual style, branding, localisation and motion graphics.
These settings are designed to help different teams maintain consistency across their videos. Another feature focuses on updating existing content when software products or business processes change.
Clueso said its agents can navigate the relevant workflows again and capture updated footage, allowing businesses to refresh existing videos rather than recreate them entirely.
The platform can also connect with other business systems to access product and organisational information relevant to video creation.
Clueso supports the Model Context Protocol (MCP), which allows compatible AI assistants, including Claude and ChatGPT, to interact with its video production tools.
Through this integration, users can direct supported AI assistants to create, edit and manage videos using Clueso.
Previous funding and expansion plans
The Series A round follows Clueso’s $1.4 million seed funding round, announced in April 2024. That investment was led by f7 Ventures, with participation from Y Combinator.
With the latest investment, Clueso plans to expand its enterprise operations and continue developing the AI agents that support its video creation and editing platform.
The startup also intends to connect its video production tools more closely with the systems businesses use to manage product and organisational information.
