‘From a mother’s journey to women’s healthcare brand’: B-Arm raises Rs 4.8 crore led by Zoho co-founder

B-Arm Medical Technologies, a Tamil Nadu-based healthcare startup, has raised Rs 4.8 crore in a pre-Series A funding round led by Mudhal Partners (Zoho family), with participation from other high net worth individual investors.

The round takes the startup’s total capital raised to approximately Rs 9 crore, through a combination of debt and equity.

It did not disclose the valuation or the stake acquired.

Notably, Mudhal Partners is led by Kumar Vembu, a co-founder of Zoho.

B-Arm said the funds will support expansion, product innovation, brand growth, and wider reach across India, with the next phase focused mainly on strengthening its presence in women’s healthcare.

How the company started?

B-Arm’s focus on women’s health comes out of its co-founder’s own experience.

SruthiSri, a biomedical engineer and a mother of three, went through pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum recovery and breastfeeding, and found that the difficulty was matched by how little any of it was openly discussed.

Post-delivery soreness, breastfeeding problems, pregnancy & intimate-health concerns, she has said, were treated as things women were simply expected to manage as part of motherhood.

Her husband, B-Arm founder Barathram, is also a biomedical engineer.

Barathram said watching those experiences led him to approach the problem differently and to ask whether the couple’s engineering background could be used to build practical, accessible products designed around what Indian women actually needed.

That question became the basis of the startup.

B-Arm said its aim is to understand problems women often endure quietly and provide solutions their products covering every stage of womanhood from puberty to menopause.

Built from experience. Backed by engineering

B-Arm’s position is that many of these issues stay under-discussed or treated as taboo, with the result that women often do not know solutions exist for problems they have accepted as normal.

The startup said it is trying to change that through a combination of awareness, education and product development. It describes its approach as starting not with what it can sell but with what would make a woman’s experience easier, safer and more comfortable, and sums up its philosophy as listening to the woman first and building the solution second.

B-Arm aims to become a destination women return to across different stages of life, from puberty to menopause, rather than a catalogue of individual products.

Beyond women’s healthcare, the startup also sells in the pulmonology and occupational therapy segments, including products for children with autism and speech difficulties and holds 10+ patents.

Appearance on ‘Startup Singam’

B-Arm got much attention when it appeared on Startup Singam, the startup investment reality show broadcast on Vijay Television and streamed on JioHotstar.

It was among the few startups to receive one of the highest funding amounts offered on the show, and it was recognized with a Top Ten Startup award from approximately 3,000 applications received in the programme’s second season.

For those who don’t know, Startup Singam is a startup reality show, much like Shark Tank India, that brings founders in front of a mass audience and gives them access to investors beyond the usual metro networks.
