dubdub, a swipe-based trivia and puzzle app launched in March, has raised $1.3 million in an equity seed round led by 3one4 Capital, Antler and Stellaris Venture Partners.
It said it will use the funding to hire across product and engineering, add new interactive formats and make its feed more personalised.
The app has crossed 20,000 downloads in the roughly seven months since launch. dubdub said its early retention is above the top percentile of casual games.
How the app works
dubdub replaces a passive content feed with questions and mini games. Each swipe asks the user to answer, guess, solve, recognise, predict or compete, across more than 20 categories including cricket, Bollywood, pop culture, general knowledge, mythology and logical reasoning.
The startup said it uses AI and each user’s interactions to tailor challenges to their interests. Users can challenge friends and compare scores. It lists features such as head-to-head duels, private multiplayer “Squad Rooms”, daily streaks and a leaderboard called The Arena. It said the app is free, with no advertisements, hidden subscriptions or paywalled categories.
“We started dubdub with a simple belief: people don’t just want to consume content, they want to test themselves, discover what they are good at and have fun along the way,” said Kaustubh Priye, CEO and co-founder of dubdub.
“Having built and sold a company before, we know retention is the clearest signal that a product is working, and our early numbers tell us users are finding real value in dubdub,” he added.
He said the funding will let the company bring in strong talent, keep experimenting and build something people return to “because it is genuinely enjoyable, not simply because it is in their feed.”
The founders’ first exit
dubdub marks the second venture by co-founders Kaustubh Priye, who serves as CEO, and Supan Shah, the company’s CPTO. The duo previously founded Aldun, a startup focused on simplifying hospital insurance processing and patient discharge.
Aldun worked with hospital chains such as Apollo, Aster, Fortis, Manipal and Narayana before being acquired by Care.Fi. The two founders have more than 30 years of combined experience in technology product development, having previously worked at companies including Flipkart, Udaan and OnMobile.
Healthcare fintech startup Care.fi announced its acquisition of Aldun in January 2026 for an undisclosed amount. At the time, Aldun handled about 10,000 discharges a month across hospital networks including Aster, Apollo, Manipal, Sir Ganga Ram, Fortis, KIMS, Narayana and Cloudnine, and Care.fi said it planned to take the platform to 300 hospital units and about 1 lakh discharges a month.
dubdub went live about two months after that acquisition was announced.
Akshay Sharma, Principal at 3one4 Capital, said consumer habits around content are being rewritten, with people wanting “quick, bite-sized experiences that ask for little commitment yet still hold their attention.”
“AI has reset the economics of the category. Content can now be created, tested and personalised in days rather than months, at a fraction of the cost,” Sharma said. He added that the founders had “started from first principles, asking what makes a moment of content genuinely worth someone’s time and how to build a product that learns the answer for every individual user.”
Rajiv Srivatsa, Founding Partner at Antler, said the next shift in consumer media will be “from passive scrolling to active participation.”
Srivatsa said more than 80% of internet users aged 16 to 44 play video games on some device, rising to 87% among Gen Z users aged 13 to 24.
“AI has now reached the point where this kind of personalised, interactive content can be produced at the quality and cost needed to scale,” he said.
