Simple Energy raises Rs 1,750 crore from Thyrocare founder Dr. A. Velumani’s family office, founders

The round was led by Dr. Arokiaswamy Velumani Family Office, along with Simple Energy’s Founder and CEO Suhas Rajkumar, and Co-founder and CFO Ankit Gupta, in participation with Amit Mishra, an HNI based in Bengaluru, and the Haran Family Office.

Notably, this is the company’s largest funding round to date and the third-largest among other electric two-wheeler OEMs. The capital will support the next phase of the company’s growth across marketing, supply chain, R&D, and hiring, the statement said.

“I have been with Simple Energy since the early days, and I now repent I didn’t know it earlier. Growth of 4x in a year says both the company and industry are growing rapidly. SEPL owns end-to-end technology for chassis, battery, motor, and software. That is very rare in the Indian EV vertical. The next phase will focus on scaling in manufacturing, marketing, and retail networks. With tailwinds of global challenges in fossil energy, Simple is well positioned to be in the top 3 players of the EV2W vertical in India in just 3 years,” said Dr. A. Velumani, founder of Thyrocare, AVMLabs & AVMSmiles.

In its previous round in June 2026, Simple Energy raised Rs 250 crore in a mix of debt and equity, led by the family office of Dr. Arokiaswamy Velumani in participation with Founder and CEO, Suhas Rajkumar, and Co-founder and CFO Ankit Gupta.

With the current round, the company’s total capital raised to date stands at over Rs 2,530 crore from a base of investors and HNIs, including Dr. Arokiaswamy Velumani’s Family Office, Amit Mishra, an HNI based in Bengaluru, Balamurugan Arumugam, the Haran Family Office, the Desai Family Office (promoters of Apar Industries), and the Vasavi Family Office.

Simple Energy currently operates at a production capacity of 10,000 units per month and is among India’s top 10 electric two-wheeler manufacturers by monthly sales, with its growing momentum driven by Simple One and Simple Wave.

The company claims to have over 80 outlets across 60+ cities, including Bengaluru, Delhi, Patna, Hyderabad, and Chennai, among others.

In the last 8 months, it has launched two new products, the Simple Wave and Simple Ultra, catering to the customers across the family and performance scooter segments.

Suhas Rajkumar, Founder and CEO, Simple Energy, said, “This is a defining moment for Simple Energy. Over the past few years, we have built our core technology, products, manufacturing capabilities, and retail network in-house. This round gives us the capital to scale that foundation. Our priorities are a new manufacturing facility, higher production, an expanded distribution and service network, and the next generation of products. The continued support of our early investors reinforces our progress as we work to make Simple Energy one of India’s leading full-stack electric two-wheeler companies.”
